  • DESCRIPTION OF OUTPLACEMENT SERVICES

Outplacement Advice Line offers multiple outplacement options. We are flexible and can tailor a program specifically for the needs of your company. If you have special needs or circumstances not covered here, please let us know.

    INDIVIDUAL OUTPLACEMENT

We provide unlimited, one-on-one help to each individual. For each person, the program is based on his or her individual needs and is implemented through in-person meetings, phone calls, and e-mail. Services available to the individual include:

_ We are available as telephone consultants to Human Resources prior to the event. We can advise regarding how the event is carried out, what to say to employees, and what to include in materials you give to employees at the time of the separation. We can be available for a consultation immediately after the announcement to either explain what services are available or to initiate consultation to him or her.
    _ Unlimited support and counseling
_ Assistance dealing with emotions and stress, and help in maintaining a positive attitude
_ Assessment of skills and strengths, with a focus on marketability
_ Aptitude and interest testing (additional fees may apply)
_ Assistance in making a career change, for those considering that option
    _ Assistance with resume preparation
_ Overview of job search strategies (networking, targeting specific companies, newspaper and Internet ads, search firms)
_ Instruction in researching industries and individual companies
_ Assistance in the development of a job search plan
_ Interview training with suggestions on answering the tough interview questions
    _ Assistance negotiating job offers
_ Long range career planning for future success
_ Assistance in starting a new business or retiring, for those who are considering either option
_ Continued support during the first months on the new job
_ We continually call people we have not heard from to see whether they still need our help. No one falls through the cracks, and we can give you a status report at any time

    IN ADDITION:
_ We can provide a copy of our Job Search Manual and a copy of our book, Fire Proof: You’re in Charge of Your Career, which deals extensively with career management and success, to each individual.

    GROUP OUTPLACEMENT
We offer a 1 day seminar that is fun and interactive. We have found that these seminars work best if attended by no more than 30 people at a time, but we can be flexible based on your situation. Our experience has been that a 1 day seminar is more than enough to cover the basics for reemployment; more than 1 day seems to be excessive for most individuals, and we find that people are reluctant to attend the seminar if they must commit to more than a day. Our free follow-up (see below) ensures that people who need additional help do receive that help. We try to tailor each seminar to the particular group attending it, and we allow the group to guide us in which topics we cover and how long is spent on each topic. This flexibility ensures that the specific needs of the group are met. However, the typical seminar will include:
_ Orientation and framework for managing change and emotion
_ The importance of a positive attitude
_ Assessment of skills and strengths, with a focus on marketability
_ Detailed training on resume preparation for various levels and occupations
_ Overview of the job market and development of a job search plan
_ Job search strategies (networking, targeting specific companies, newspaper and Internet ads, search firms)
_ Instruction in researching industries and individual companies
_ Interview training with suggestions on answering the tough interview questions
    _ Negotiating job offers
_ Reemployment as only one part of career management
_ Long range career planning for future success

    IN ADDITION:
_ We provide a copy of our Job Search Manual and a copy of our book, Fire Proof: You’re in Charge of Your Career, which deals extensively with career management and success, to each individual.
